Potty Time

Thomas turned 21 months this past week… can you believe that!

We are maybe inching toward the potty training stage. A few months ago we put a little kiddie potty in the bathroom and have just left it there. Thomas sometimes runs and sits on the potty and does the deed and then gets up and says i poo poo. And sure enough a little something is there… in his diaper.

The new York Mom

He doesn’t like to sit on the potty without his diaper and because I’m home with him so much. i don’t push him.  A friend of mine has her child potty trained at 18 months! because of day care requirements. I’m following the whole – when they are ready– technique.

When did you start potty training with your child ?

Thomas is using the Prince Lionheart Potty Pod. This is a small, compact portable potty. The color and simple design  fit the decor of our bathroom with a nod to the wee little MOTO in the home. You can also take the inside compartment out to wash it out…etc. The seat of this potty is  plastic which is ok but Prince LionHeart makes a potty with a foam cushioned seat, which might be a little softer for tushies. Stop by PRINCE LIONHEART for lots of cute baby and toddler stuff.

I’m sure I’ll have many more potty stories coming up!

Alex Toys Sound and Play Busy Table – REVIEW

Our focus on play is more on the hands on than the tech. While I work in the tech world, I am not crazy about introducing tech to kids at a very young age. We love hands on play, musical play, creative play. I love exposing my kids to open-ended storytelling. Things which inspire the mind and help create stories and play.

Thomas has been playing with the Alex Toys Sound and Play Busy Table. We have lots of play tables and I have to say this is one of my faves. The colors, the creative interaction, the musical component… it has it all. It’s a great value for around $80.  This is a creative, wooden toy which is great to get those little hands working and those minds thinking. This toy works on fine motor skills, engages sensory development and is just plain ole creative fun.

Thomas takes some of his trains and choo choo’s them around the busy table. There are peek a boo wooden flap, a bead maze, crazy wheels, a zylophone and a drum and more. The ABC’s are all around the perimeter which also a great learning component.  We’ve been enjoying this busy table. It’s certainly keeps Thomas tinkering on one thing or another over in his play space!

Please swing by ALEX TOYS to find out more!

Prince Lionheart – Wheely Bug – Review

Life with a 15 months old is nothing short of entertaining. Thomas is always on the go. Whether he’s walking, running, falling, rolling on top of Jonah or climbing over everything…Thomas never stops. This winter has been pretty brutal in New York and we just haven’t had many chances to go outside and play.

Wheely Bug Prince Lionheart

Thanks goodness for indoor/outdoor toys like The WheelyBug from Prince Lionheart.

This little scooter wheely bug has certainly kept this busy MOTO occupied.

The wheely bug is a 4 wheeled ride on toy from Prince Lionheart. You can get one is a variety of characters like a bumblebee, hedgehog…or tiger! Thomas sorta rides it…but mainly loves to push it around the room. The castor wheels are super easy to move around and we haven’t seen a single scratch on our wooden floors. It’s also very lightweight because Thomas has been working on his 15month fitness and likes to lift this up and… put it down… all the time! I mean he’s not pumping this over his head, but can certainly lift and move it.

Few things you need to know:

  • The whole toy is rounded which is great for kids. no sharp edges to poke at ya.
  • The seat is very lightly padded. It’s not cushy but rather just the right amount of padding for little bums.
  • The fabric is easily wiped cleaned.
  • The wheely bugs come sin two sizes… SMALL – 1.5 yrs and above. LARGE – 3yrs and above up to 50 pounds.

I love toys like these which are so very simple yet pack a huge play punch. It’s sweet to see Thomas and his chubby thighs scoot around the house with his tiger Wheely Bug. Prince Lionheart is a great company which makes some pretty design forward products. I like the simplicity of their design and i especially love their commitment to classic play in their line of toys.  For more info head over to Prince Lionheart.

Hot Chocolate on a snowy day

It’s a gorgeous Snow Day outside and everything has been shut down. We’ve been having a lazy morning and plan on playing in the snow all day!

One thing to look forward to after a fun day in the snow is… HOT CHOCOLATE!

Lily loves to load up her hot chocolate with marshmallows and Thomas just like to eat the marshmallows.

When going sledding we take along our Stanley Thermos filled with hot beverage goodness. Their thermos come in many different sizes so you can bring along hot chocolate for the littles and hot toddy’s for the bigs! Stanley is a classic tried and true brand that really stands the test of time… i mean they just celebrated their 100 year anniversary! Like Lily says… people were using this thermos in the “old days”.

enjoy your snow day everyone!

Mimish – beanbag and storage in one – REVIEW

Recently I met a fascinating gal – Andrea Soto- while on one of my many outings. She is the creator of MIMISH – the bean bag with storage. ( genius right!)

Since January is National Organization Month, I wanted to share a little fun and colorful way to organize in your home.

Mimish is a fab new product on the market which combines the laid bag comfort of a bean bag while also allowing for simple storage under the pouf!

Anything from blankets to toys to… small wandering children can be zipped up right inside the bag. ( i kid about the small wandering children.. or do i!)

We’ve used the Mimish storage bag in our play space where it provides comfy seating as well as storage for a few of Thomas and Lily’s stuffed animals. Although… Thomas is much more interested in getting INSIDE the bag. He loves the storage compartment and pretends it’s his own personal boat.

Jonah sometimes tries to crawl inside as well. Silly Jonah.

Mimish Storage Bags come in a whole selection of fun colors. You can also get muted colors to fit your grown up decor. This would be a great gift for a college student to spruce up and help organize their dorm room, for use in a play space like us or even in the TV room… which we do quiet often. This is the perfect movie night accessory!

I also told Andrea and her team that next season they need to come out with a GOLD Mimish!

I mean… perfection right!!

I would love a gold pouf in our nursery!

In the end. we love this beanbag/storage combo… it has totally fit right into our decor and has come in handy for just lounging around. It’s also super easy to clean – completely machine washable. just follow the instructions.

So what do you think… is it a bean bag? is it storage? It’s a MIMISH!!

Check out MIMISH for more info!

*this is a sponsored post. I do like this product and really loved Andrea and her fab energy! I love supporting small businesses… especially small businesses by fierce gals!*

Lil Helper – REVIEW

Sometimes I wish I had a clone… often times I find myself feeding Thom with one hand, snuggling Lily with the other and petting Jonah with my feet while folding laundry with my teeth… Ok the laundry part is not real because I don’t do laundry!

But really, parents… it’s a juggling act right.

So we need a little help every now and then.

Have you every propped up your babies bottle while he’s feeding? I sometimes prop it with a blanket or a small stuffed animal just to have a free hand.

Lil Helper to the rescue!

Lil Helper is a BPA free baby bottle holder. Created by a multi-tasking Dad, Li’l helper was designed to complement a baby’s natural gripping instinct making it simple for them to grab on to.

Thoms has really enjoyed using the Lil Helper. He loves the little rattle at the end and since he has JUST started grabbing onto things, he’s kinda loving holding onto his bottle. Almost proud!

I don’t let him have it all the time because he is really young and I like to hold him while he feeds but when I’m cooking or playing with Lily and I have Thom nearby, I set his bottle on the Lil Helper and he is perfectly happy being with us and I have both hands free to play with Lily… or fold laundry..or eat.. or just be!

The Lil Helper is also great while I stroll around the mall during this bitter bitter BITTAH cold few months in New York.

The silicone handles make gripping easy for Thoms little tiny hands and little rattles on the edges keep him entertained. You can toss this in your bag and use it at restaurants, parks, anywhere really. Just keep an eye on the kiddo at all times. We have a whole plethera of baby bottles all different sizes and they all fit in this contraption!

One big thing to note – Thom still spazzes out from time to time, his 4 month self doesn’t have full control over his limbs yet. The Lil helper is very light and we sometimes give it to him without the bottle just for him to grip and shake.. occasionally it bonks his head but no harm done. it’s so light that it doesn’t hurt him.

This is a parent MUST HAVE you guys. It really helps me multi task and it’s one of those… ‘why didn’t I think of that’ items. So glad this came by my desk to review!

Nine Naturals – Natural products to use during pregnancy and beyond – REVIEW

When I was pregnant I was soooo very careful about what products I used on my skin. The skin, being the largest organ, absorbs everything. And sometimes we forget this. From the clothes we wear to the lotion we slather on … we need to pay attention to what touches our skin… especially when pregnant.

Now that I am nursing the little MOTO I still pay attention to what bath products I use. Shampoos and conditioners and lotions with high toxins all can be so NO BUENO for the little babe in the bellie or nursing.

I also like that the scents ofNine Naturals are very subtle so during those morning sickness days when everything makes you gag… you can handle this.

Nine Naturals formulations are 100% plant-based. No use of Sulfates, Parabens, Phthalates, Petrochemicals, DEA, Synthetic Fragrances, or Artificial Preservatives. All of the ingredients are pre-screened for health and safety during pregnancy and while nursing.

Nine Naturals uses premium ingredients, which include moroccan argan oil, macadamia seed oil, and cupuaçu butter, nurture hair and skin to keep women radiant through pregnancy and beyond. all of the hair products are pH balanced to be safe for, protect and prolong color-treated hair.

Bambinos – Tidy Table Tray + Flexi- Diner – REVIEW

The Tidy Tray peeps sent along this handy-dandy gadget for review and I totally love it.

It’s a portable table that you take anywhere you go… restaurants, grandma’s house,  or just use it at home.

Here’s how it works:

Simply clip the Bambinos – Tidy Table Tray + Flexi- Diner to the side of any table. The clip is really strong so it holds still.

photo (6)

The green tray surface is used for food and even has a cup compartment. I love compartments… adds an element of organization – something that I am lacking thus my fascination for said compartments – but I digress.

photo (5)

After your bambino is done eating a full balanced meal- ahem- simply remove the green tray and you are ready for playtime. Drawing or clay or anything can work on this clear smooth surface.

Bambinos - Tidy Table Tray + Flexi- Diner

Every part of the Bambinos – Tidy Table Tray + Flexi- Diner is washable. Just wipe it down with a damp cloth and it’s good as new. The lightweight-edness of this makes it very easy to transport…like I said.. take it to the restaurant so you don’t have to eat off the yucky tables.

With the all the gazillion kid products out on the market, I hope I can help you find some cool, practical gear to help navigate through these fun times with your babe!

Munchkin Arm and Hammer Diaper Pail – Review

These days…there are a lot of poop explosions going on in this house. The ONE MONTH old wonder definitely makes an impressive amount of poopies!

We have two changing stations … one upstairs in the nursery and one downstairs in the bathroom.

The one upstairs is lucky enough to have the Munchkin Arm and Hammer Diaper Pail that eliminates the funky odors from the many many MANY diaper changes on the daily.

The other night I changed the MOTO’s diaper 5 times between 10pm and 6am. 5 times! WOWZA!

Every nursery MUST HAVE a diaper pail…it’s essential!

I hope my review helps you decide.

The Munchkin Arm and Hammer Diaper Pail is a great choice.

Picture this:

2am – Baby has a poop explosion – you run to the changing station – start the diaper changing process – gross sticky poop everywhere!- diaper pail next to changing station – one handedly you open the pail – drop sticky smelly diaper in the opening – diaper falls into  bag – close the pail – bag with poopy diaper automatically seals – AND a little bit of Arm and Hammer baking soda is dispensed into the pail to eliminate the odor – finish diaper change – clean diaper- happy baby – try to go back to bed. (that was a joke!)

The Munchkin Arm and Hammer Diaper Pail is  easy to use, sturdy and smell free. You can fit 25 diapers in the pail before you need to empty this out. I have been able to fit more than 25… the MOTO is only one month and his diapers are small and I fold them up nice and tight before disposing. The patented self sealing system works wonders… just drop the diaper and close the lid and the pail seals and locks away the smellies! I don’t have any stinks sneaking out even when the pail is left open.

The baking soda compartment is easily refillable with Arm and Hammer baking soda that you can buy anywhere. No need to purchase a special refill… so money saved there. The pail comes fully assembled…  just open the box, pull out the pail and it’s ready to be used! Bag and baking soda compartment full and already set up.

Munchkin Diaper pail

Overall, I like the Munchkin Arm and Hammer Diaper Pail… it works really well for us. If you are in the market for one… I recommend it!

*I was given a Munchkin Arm and Hammer Diaper Pail for purposes of this review. All opinions are honest and my own. If I do not like a product that’s given to me for review, I don’t write about it*
