Nothing says SUMMAAH like a good old fashion water park and that’s just what we did to kick off these hot humid months. A few weekends ago, Matt, Lily, Thomas and I packed up our swimsuits and adventure shoes and drove to Pennsylvania to spend a few days at the Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark. Just under 2hours from NYC, Camelbeach is packing a massive adventure punch with a water park AND mountain adventure park. I just want to start off by saying we had a blast! Lily is STILL going on and on about the water slides and the ziplining and the tree top adventures and the overall experience.
Camelbeach Mountain and Waterpark is a winter destination when there is fresh powder on the mountain but transformes into a summer wonderland when the weather warms up.
As the name implies, this is a 2 in 1 adventure stop. One part of the park is a water park with something for the whole family! and the other is a mountain adventure park which offers activities for almost every member of the family. Little moto was left out,.
This park has something for every member of the family even my little round MOTO Thomas – 18 months. The thrill rides were Lily’s favorite with the Vortex being her ultimate thrill. Family rides where everyone gets in a tube and goes barreling down a water slide were a blast ( not for thomas). And the adventure zone… the adventure zone is where the action is with the littles. Thomas found himself a little slide which was perfect for his size and we went up the stairs- dodged the water fountain and slide down the slide.. over and over and O V E R again. He was in heaven. Lily also had lots of things to climb on and explore. This area was perfect for all ages. We were in a private cabana which costs approx $150 ( give or take a few $10). The cabana is the most convenient thing when travelling with kids who need diaper changes and naps and breastfeedings. One fancy perk of the cabana is the fruit basket and dessert tray that comes around through the day. Lily thought this was the fanciest thing… i mean a dessert tray at a water park! Who could have thunk!
I highly recommend a cabana. But you have to book them quick because they go fast.
The next day we headed to the other side of the park for mountain adventures. This is my kinda thing! I went ziplining 4000 feet down a mountain, Lily went 1500 feet down a smaller mountain and was over the moon. we loved the mountain coaster and our favorite… the tree top adventures. While the mountain adventure side is pretty awesome, this is not the most convenient for families. Thomas was too young for all the activities so one of us always had to be with him. Lily too was not able to do everything and so Matt and I had to schedule everything hours apart. Some activities like the ziplining, treetop adventures, segway tours are scheduled and you have to go to each activity with a guide. There was a lot of waiting around because only one of us adults could do each activity at a time. So keep that in mind when you head over to the mountain adventure park. The treetop adventure activity was amazing and would be perfect for a family reunion or corporate team building activity. I am itching to go back.
For dinner we stopped by Desaki Restaurant where the owner was this gregarious italian man who took us on a tour of the restaurant and fed us with endless seafood, sushi and hibachi. Desaki is a really great family restaurant which has weekly theme nights for everyone. A dance floor for kids, private dinning spaces for parties and just overall festive atmosphere. The food was good and fresh and the portions were large. I had the hibatchi scallops and while they were pretty oversalted/soysauced, they were fresh. The scallops are caught within 48 hours of being served which makes for some yummy goodness. The sushi and sashimi was fresh and exciting and tasty. Overall the whole desaki experience was a foodie fest and if you find yourself in the Poconos and at Camelbeach i would highly recommend Desaki.
But wait… there’s more!!
Camel Beach is expanding and opening their very own INDOOR waterpark next season. Yep you heard that right so all your adventures can happen in one place with no reason to leave ever.
