I’ve been using the new Regenerist Luminous skincare line from OLAY for the past 10 days. While this is a sponsored post, i do actually use OLAY products in my daily life. My mom used to use it when I was younger and still does and her routine just carried over to me.
It’s a new collection of skin care products that help reveal beautiful, luminous skin and create a more vibrant, youthful appearance. The products work layer by layer on the skin’s surface and deep within to help reenergize skin, banish dark shadows, and reveal a more luminous skin tone. The result is beautifully smooth, sleek, pearlescent skin with a radiant, healthy glow.
While i did not see significant life changing results, I did see visible – very promising -results. I did not change my diet or the frequency of how many times I washed my face during the day. I kept my routine standard and still saw results. I do have dark spots which have JUST started showing up in the last year and I sorta obsess over them sometimes. I did not see a noticeable difference in my dark spots…actually no change at all. The dark circles under my eyes did seem to be lighter. My skin, on the other hand, felt smoother, cleaner, brighter and all around fresh. I am going to continue using the OLAY Regenerist Luminous line because I think the results will be much better after another 10 days.
Life with a 15 months old is nothing short of entertaining. Thomas is always on the go. Whether he’s walking, running, falling, rolling on top of Jonah or climbing over everything…Thomas never stops. This winter has been pretty brutal in New York and we just haven’t had many chances to go outside and play.
This little scooter wheely bug has certainly kept this busy MOTO occupied.
The wheely bug is a 4 wheeled ride on toy from Prince Lionheart. You can get one is a variety of characters like a bumblebee, hedgehog…or tiger! Thomas sorta rides it…but mainly loves to push it around the room. The castor wheels are super easy to move around and we haven’t seen a single scratch on our wooden floors. It’s also very lightweight because Thomas has been working on his 15month fitness and likes to lift this up and… put it down… all the time! I mean he’s not pumping this over his head, but can certainly lift and move it.
Few things you need to know:
The whole toy is rounded which is great for kids. no sharp edges to poke at ya.
The seat is very lightly padded. It’s not cushy but rather just the right amount of padding for little bums.
The fabric is easily wiped cleaned.
The wheely bugs come sin two sizes… SMALL – 1.5 yrs and above. LARGE – 3yrs and above up to 50 pounds.
I love toys like these which are so very simple yet pack a huge play punch. It’s sweet to see Thomas and his chubby thighs scoot around the house with his tiger Wheely Bug. Prince Lionheart is a great company which makes some pretty design forward products. I like the simplicity of their design and i especially love their commitment to classic play in their line of toys. For more info head over to Prince Lionheart.

Kardashian Kids is a sweet line for baby girls up to 24 months, with fun trendy prints, faux leather skirts and gold polka dot leggings where motifs of butterflies and tribal prints with a subtle leopard print seemed to stand out.
The line is really cute and has the perfect balance of baby and trend. So no cute duckies or fairies in this line folks.
I did get to chat with Kourtney Kardashian and asked her a few questions.
While this is only the girls BABY line, there is a boys line in the works.
Additionally a toddler girls line is of special interest to Kourtney, Kim and Khloe. She talked about how toddler clothing seems to be in demand and they will certainly be extending this line to include that.
Play time is an essential part of childhood which truly helps foster learning and creative children who grow up to become creative and innovative adults who in turn change the world for the better.
For 2 years , I have been working at TTPM – Time To Play Mag – the largest toy review site. Here I review toys and baby gear and am totally invested in all things play. This has given me an amazing insight into the world of play. My desk is covered with classic toys, techy toys, apps, ipad games, dolls, puppets, trains and planes and anything you can imagine!
This job has brought me to ask the question…
When did PLAYTIME get almost eliminated in our kids lives? With the influx of ipads and apps and computers and screen time- kids don’t really get a chance to just be kids these days. While there are amazing toys which encourage imagination and classic hands on play… there is a HUGE surgence of toys which are all about the immediate gratification. The screen, the tech the lights and music and touch screen!
Lily is not a screen girl. which is pretty awesome…because as much time I spend on-screen – for my clients and work..etc, I am very much an outdoors gal… much like my jungle girl lily.
She’s been playing with her dolls lately. She’s 9 and she hasn’t really played with her dolls in a few months and then all of a sudden this week she picked them back up, put her dollhouses back together and is back at it. I cannot express how amazing it is to see a 9YO -who is hormonal at times and struggling with stepping up an age- to play with her dolls and go back to hands on creative play.
Toys without tech elements encourage kids to role play, tell stories, interact with each other or the parents and open up creative pathways in their brain. YES in their brain. Entire pathways can be totally shut off if kids spend too much time on ipads and watching TV.
I spent the day watching Lily and Thomas play today and their stories and interaction are just priceless. Thomas loves trains and so does Lily. So they play trains together all the time. Thomas also has started engaging with building blocks which …again… is one of Lily’s fave activities. We end each night with a good old-fashioned game of blocks. Building castles which get knocked down, building towers and bridges and amphitheatres for the dolls to play in.
With school being so very stressful these days… it’s important to make sure kids remember they are kids… and just play.
And of course having a trusty BEAST by your side is always a plus!
How about we put aside the techy stuff and just engage with our kids with a good old fashioned fort or a dollhouse or a wacky made up story. While ipads and apps and screen time is a sign of the times… good old fashioned hands on creative storytelling and PLAY never gets old.
Lily has been fascinated with Gracie Gold – the US figure skater who just competed in the Sochi Olympics.
It’s still cold in NY and the ice skating and skiing spots are still very. much .open! (when is spring coming!)
So on a cold stir crazy saturday afternoon we headed over to our local ice skating rink to get some of our stir crazies out. Lily picked the tan ice skates because they looked professional. Her outfit… well that’s just her daily look.
I have to admit… i don’t like the cold and all these cold weather outdoor activities don’t do anything for me. It’s just too cold and too uncomfortable and I spend all my time chasing a baby around who face plants in the snow every 5 steps. Maybe next year I’ll learn how to ice skate so I can see what the fun is all about. Because of dancing, I never skated. I was always afraid I would twist an ankle or a knee or anything that would stand in the way of getting gigs. buuuuut since no dancing is happening these days… iceskating here i come – next year.
We found this super warm snow suit for Thomas at Nordstrom Rack for a great price. It’s Boden Baby. Ever since working with BODEN last season, i have been sorta obsessed with their clothes and always find a great selection at Nordstrom. ( not an ad)
Thomas was such a rollie pollie in his snow suit. I don’t know how he ever stayed upright in all that insulation.
Thomas also liked eating the snow and since his hands were nice and snug in his mittens… there was only one way to eat the ice! as long as it’s not yellow snow!
I predict we have 2 more weeks of this cold weather and then all will be nice and warm and sun shiny and spring like!! fingers crossed.
My mom has used OLAY products for as long as I can remember. When I lived in India I remember my mom having the glass OLAY bottles and the smell alone takes me back to my childhood.
As I grew up, I’ve used OLAY myself. In college, as a professional dancer – on stage, on tour, on video shoots, coomercial shoots and when I danced all over the world.
Olay was my go to product to heal and soothe my skin after mountains of makeup was slathered on my face for my many shows.
These days, while I’m not dancing as much as I would like to… I still use OLAY. I have not strayed from the ever faithful classic OLAY cream with SPF.
But guess what… there’s a ton of new OLAY products on the shelves these days and I am especially excited to try out the new OLAY REGENERIST LUMINOUS ( available at walmart)
Olay Regenerist Luminous boutique is a new collection of skin care products that help reveal beautiful, luminous skin and create a more vibrant, youthful appearance. The products work layer by layer on the skin’s surface and deep within to help reenergize skin, banish dark shadows, and reveal a more luminous skin tone. The result is beautifully smooth, sleek, pearlescent skin with a radiant, healthy glow. It’s an ideal choice for anyone who is concerned with dull, uneven skin and desires a more vibrant, healthy, and youthful appearance.
I mean… my skin certainly needs some regenerating action and if it luminates… it’s a win!
I’m working with SHESPEAKS to test out this fab line over the next few weeks and yes… lots of bare face pics coming up!
As my skin gets older and the wear and tear of the daily grind starts to show, I am in MUCH need of some regeneration these days.
Hope to swing by in a couple of weeks to see my before and after using this product.
I kinda LUUURVE the Mama’s and Papa’s Armadillo stroller. It functions as an all in one stroller and it’s pretty lightweight for lugging up subway stairs when no one helps you WITH a baby on a hip! From newborn to about 4-5 yrs this stroller will stay with you through the long haul.
Please swing by TTPM to fill all your baby gear needing ..needs!
*I work at TTPM and know waaay too much about toys and baby gear. No complaints!*
Lily has been asking for a blog of her own for quite a while now. So for the 9th birthday I gave her a blog. We’re keeping it private for now so as not to attracts the trolls.
In this blog of her’s she writes about food, fashion, science and her “jungle girl” adventures. It’s pretty cool. She has video and pictures which she has really thought about.
I’m excited about teaching her how to use the computer and upload her own images and work on basic editing. It’s pretty surreal but totally awesome at the same time. She has no interest in “girly” things which is great… since I don’t either. And she would rather spend all her time in art or digging up worms or ‘sciencing’.
Now.. all that said… she has yet to sit down for a concentrated amount of time to focus and get a full post done. She has posts up… just not edited posts.
Lily’s going to do lots of amazing things in her life and I am really fortunate and only to happy to help her get the ball rolling!
Here’s to little mini awesome girls!
* This is NOT a sponsored post. Lily is wearing all her own clothes – Jeweled SweatShirt from CrewCuts, White Oxford – GapKids, Yellow Wool Skirt – RuumKids, Leggings – Target. Jonah is just happy to get attention and refuses to wear clothes! *
One the best parts of living in the New York Metro area is the accessibility to true adventures. On any given day a road trip will take you to Montreal – Philly- Boston- Cape Cod- Hudson, NY – washington D.C. – and… Mystic Connecticut.
Just north of New York City up in the gorgeous New England region, is a town called Mystic. Nestled on the Long Island Sound in Connecticut, Mystic is like something out of a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. You know those pictures which practically narrate a nostalgic essay without a single word.
I love New England. The trees, the slower pace of life, the commitment to craft and small business and education. It’s pretty ideal.
Mystic,CT is one of our escapes and while there was still snow on the ground this past weekend, our escape was filled with swimming and adventure, beluga whales and my first lobster roll of the season!
All three of us have been pretty stir crazy this winter. So we headed up to Mystic to swim in a hotel pool and visit the aquarium and have some old-fashioned ice cream floats! Since we absolutely love traveling and love our weekend road trips, I wanted to share some tips in case YOU – dear reader – ever find yourself in picturesque Mystic, Connecticut.
Where to Stay:
There are tons of Inns and Bed and Breakfasts which are very quaint. But we needed a pool. While we usually stay at Mohegan Sun because of their amazing selections of restaurants and shops, fun for kids and an amazing pool…they were booked solid this past weekend. So we stayed at the Mystic Mariott Hotel and Spa. The rooms were clean, staff was friendly and pool was clean. Nothing fancy and no bells and whistles but it met my clean standards and of course had a pool!
For dinner : we headed to Mystic Pizza… because when in Mystic! Mystic Pizza, the movie starring Julia Roberts from back in the day, was INSPIRED by the restaurant and none of the restaurant scenes were actually ever filmed in Mystic. Nonetheless, the walls are covered with images from the film and Julia Roberts smile. Matt, Lily and I ordered the Greek Salad and Mystic Pizza. Yum!
Here is my BIG MONEY SAVING TIP– to save money on the price of admission ( $29/adults $21/kids), stop by the local grocery store BIG Y and sign up for their free store savings card. You save a bundle when you show your BigY card at the aquarium.
The big attraction at the aquarium are the Beluga whales. Mystic Aquarium is a known for their efforts in marine rehabilitation and research. They are a strong force in marine rehab on the long island sounds and beyond. Lily really enjoyed the touch tank, seeing the sea-lion show, petting the sharks, and sting rays.
These fish were genetically modified to glow in the dark. That’s crazy right? There even was a button which turned the lights off and on.
Housed in the exploration center is a Titanic exhibit. Lily was fascinated by this exhibit since she has heard about the Titanic but never been at an exhibit. She got to crawl inside a submarine, read facts about the titanic, watch a handful short clips on titanic mystery and recovery. It was fascinating for this adventure girl of mine.
Thomas wasn’t quite sure what was going on. He maybe noticed the fish around him but was much more interested in chasing around the other kids at the aquarium.
The beluga whales were impressive and just gorgeous. We had a close encounter with one of them which was just the amazing!
After a morning at the Aquarium we headed to Captain Daniel Parker Inn for lunch. What a treat!
The Captain Daniel Parker Inn is off the main drag in Mystic Ct. We came upon this spot while researching where to stay and the Inn kept popping up but the lack of a pool for our stir crazy kiddies, kept us from staying there. Matt and I might have to run of on a getaway sans kinds!
I was so intrigued by the Inn that we decided to lunch, which ended up being the best decision! You MUST stop by and have some yummy grub off their menu.
I had a Lobster roll… and it did not disappoint, Matt has the Crab and Avocado Panini and Lily had the best meal of all.
She had a side order of the Truffle Mac and Cheese – 2 cheeses and shaved truffles! ( in case you don’t know, this junior foodie of mine drizzles truffle oil on practically anything! so when a truffle mac and cheese is on the menu… she must!) It was her first time eating shaved black truffle. How fancy!
It was too windy and cold to walk around this past weekend but we love strolling around town and visiting all the shops – Mystic Toys is so great, the ice cream shoppe – closed for the season- is a MUST and make sure to take pictures on the small bridge.
I can’t wait to go back when it’s warmer!
Hope you take time in your life to travel… it’s enriching in so many ways. We love to travel and sometimes a quick roadtrip is the best kinda *zing* one needs to hit the refresh button!
